Matador Men Place Fifth at Cal Poly Invitational
Women's Cross Country Results

Zack Bates finished 21st overall to help lead the Matadors to a fifth-place finish at the seven-team Cal Poly Invitational on Saturday in San Luis Obispo.

Bates ran a time of 27:09.7 over the 8,000-meter Fairbanks Memorial Cross Country Course. Manuel Ruiz ran a time of 27:30.7 for a 29th-place showing, Christian Haase place 43rd with a time of 28:22.2 and Robert Santini was right behind him in 44th with a time of 28:37.7.

Stanford took home the team title, with all five scorers finishing in the Top nine. Robert Smitson, an unattached runner, finished first with a time of 25:49.4.

The men’s cross country team runs its final meet prior to the Big West Championships on Nov. 1 next Friday when they travel to Fullerton for the Titan Invitational. The men’s race starts at 4:45 p.m.
