Matadors Finish 14th at UC Riverside Invitational

Final Men's Results

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Senior Manuel Ruiz finished 21st in a time of 25:34.80 while the Cal State Northridge men's cross country team placed 14th with 328 points at the UC Riverside Cross Country Invitational Saturday at the UCR Farm Course.

Ruiz finished a season-best 21st on the 8k course in a time of 25:34.80. Also for the Matadors Diego Fernandez finished 50th in a time of 26:26.60, Mike Stotland was 81st in a time of 27:09.20, Demsey Maziergos was 111th in a time of 27:27.30 and Juan Olea placed 123rd in a time of 28:13.10.

Mark Currell of Southern Utah won the men’s race in 24:07.20 while Juan Mejia (24:15.90) of Cal State San Marcos placed second as his teammate Sergio Gonzalez came in fourth at 24:25.90. The UC Riverside men won the UC Riverside Invitational for the first time as a Division I program. Southern Utah claimed second place finish with 71 points, as Cal State San Marcos, Westmont and Cal Poly Pomona were the top five teams.

As a team, the Matadors posted an average time of 2:15.21.
