> Tough Losses Knock Northridge Out of Top 20 Poll
Despite a 2-2 record in last weekend’s Cal Baptist Lancer Invitational, Cal State Northridge’s two losses were heartbreaking ones, losing both in the final period.

In a 6-5 loss to Cal Baptist, the Lancers overcame a 3-1 deficit and took a 4-3 lead in the fourth quarter. Northridge came back to tie up the score 4-4, but the Lancers’ Holly Curran scored the game-winning goal with 1:55 left in the game. On Saturday, the University of Redlands overcame a three-goal deficit in the third quarter and scored a goal with five seconds left in the game for a 6-5 win.

Though the Matadors’ tough losses, they still maintained a 3-2 record during the week’s competition. Northridge began the week with a 14-6 win over visting Wagner at the Matador Pool. Freshman Chari Christopher scored a remarkable seven goals in the game while Ashley Hunhoff and Kendra Klein added three.

The Matadors took a 10-2 win over Chapman and 4-3 win over Bucknell in the Lancer Invitational. Northridge had six players score against Chapman, including multi-game performances by Christopher, Erica Bonetti and Katie Roth. On Saturday, Klein scored two goals while goalie Jessica Moody made seven saves in the game.

> Christopher Leading Matador Offense
Freshman Chari Christopher scored an amazing 14 goals in last week’s five games, highlighted by a Northridge water polo record seven-goal game against Wagner. The freshman scored five goals in six shot attempts in the second quarter and finished off the day by scoring a goal in the third and fourth quarters. Her seven goals were scored on only eight shots on goal.

In the Lancer Invitational, Christopher scored seven goals in four games, including a three-goal game in Friday’s 10-2 win over Chapman and a two-goal game in a 6-5 loss to Cal Baptist. The Grand Rapids, Mich. native has scored at least one goal in each of the Matadors’ last seven games.

Christopher is also tied for third on the team with fellow freshman Erica Bonetti with 17 steals. She tallied a total of nine steals last week, including a three-steal game against Wagner. Christopher’s game-high in steals this season took place on March 1 in a 4-3 home-win over Cal State Bakersfield. She recorded four steals in the game.
