Christopher Scores Seven Goals in Win Over Wagner
NORTHRIDGE, Calif. — A memo to all Cal State Northridge water polo opponents: Next time you play Northridge, be sure to defend Chari Christopher.

Christopher unloaded for a remarkable seven goals Thursday in No. 20 Northridge’s (9-1) 14-6 win over Wagner at the Matador Pool. The freshman increased her goal total to a team-leading 18 goals in the performance.

Christopher was unstoppable as she scored an amazing five goals in the second quarter, highlighting a six-goal quarter for the Matadors and giving them an 8-2 lead going into the half. She scored her five goals in the quarter on only seven shots in the second. Christopher scored a goal in both the third and fourth quarters as well.

Head Coach Molly Barnes also received multiple-goal performances by Kendra Klein and Ashley Hunhoff — both of whom scored a perfect shooting percentage in the game, scoring three goals on three shots.

Goalies Jessica Moody and Graziella Caredda combined to make eight saves in the net on the afternoon.

Wagner’s offense came from Jamie Fullen, who had three goals in the game, including a two-goal final quarter.

The Matadors will travel to Riverside tomorrow to compete at the Cal Baptist-Lancer Invitational. Cal State Nortridge’s first game of the tournament is against Chapman. Game time is set for 10:30 a.m.
