Matadors Come Alive Late in Loss to #2 UCLA
Cal State Northridge (5-8, 0-4) mounted a second half surge, scoring three goals in the final two periods, but it was not enough to hold off #2 UCLA (12-1, 5-0) Friday at Sunset Recreation Center. An 11 goal first half propelled the Bruins to a 14-3 win.

Dayna van Gorder continued her hot streak, getting the Matadors on the board with 7:05 remaining in the third period with the first of her two goals. Van Gorder has now tallied a goal in four consecutive games, the longest current streak for the Matadors, and has 15 total goals. Allison Brookes was shut out for just the fourth time this season and saw her scoring streak snapped at four games. Kelly Rulon scored five goals for the Bruins.

Jillian Stapf manned the cage for the Matadors, and made eight saves, putting Stapf over the century mark for the young season.

The Matadors return to action Saturday with a trip to Long Beach State for a showdown at noon in Long Beach.
