Northridge, Calif. - Jillian Stapf matched her career-high in saves with 20 in goal to help lift the 15th-ranked Cal State Northridge women's water polo team to a 9-6 decision over Cal State San Bernardino in a non-league game Saturday afternoon at Matador Pool.
Last year against UC Santa Barbara, Stapf had 20 saves.
Earlier in the day, Stapf recorded 14 saves in a 12-5 decision over 16th-ranked UC Santa Barbara in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) game.
Two-time All-American Allison Brookes and Chelsea Curran each collected three goals as the Matadors raised their season record to 12-17 overall. Cal State San Bernardino fell to 17-15.
Cal State Northridge led from the opening bell. Brookes scored at 6:00 of the first period, and Curran added two goals at 4:52 and 3:26 to give the Matadors a 3-0 lead.
Brookes scored her second and third goals of the game in the second period to help the Matadors take a 6-3 halftime lead.
Before the Cal State Northridge-UCSB game, seniors Allison Brookes, Dayna Van Gorder and Brianna Wilson were honored as they played their final home games at Matador Pool.
