Cal State Northridge Defeats Cal Lutheran, Redlands at Cal Lutheran Tournament

Thousand Oaks, Calif. - The Cal State Northridge women's water polo team completed first day play on Saturday at the Cal Lutheran Tournament with victories over Cal Lutheran (15-9) and Redlands (14-4).

In the first game of the day, Sydney Sonoda paced the Matador attack with four goals while Jessica Coy, Kirra Kylander and Tara McGinley each chipped in with two goals in the win over Cal Lutheran.

Cal State Northridge jumped to a 7-2 first period.

In the second game of the day, freshman Whitney Delgado Matador scorers with three goals as Cal State Northridge recorded a 14-4 decision over Redlands. The Matadors raced to a 5-1 first period and extended the margin to seven goals at halftime, 8-1.

The Matadors will continue tournament play on Sunday with a 9:45 a.m. game against Cal State Monterey Bay followed by a 1:30 p.m. contest against three-time defending NCAA champion UCLA.
