2008 USTFCCCA All-West Region Team 
NEW ORLEANS, La. -
Cal State Northridge track & field had 11 men and women named to the 2008 USTFCCCA All-West Region Team as announced Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. To be considered All-Region the student-athlete must place in the top eight of his/her respective event.
For the Matador women, six student-athletes earned All-West Region honors. Sophomore Stephanie Ralls (Deer Island, Ore./St. Helens HS) posted the best finish of the Northridge women as she placed second in the javelin after throwing a lifetime-best 160-11 (49.04).
Also earning All-Region honors were sophomore Desirae Gonder (Bakersfield, Calif./Stockdale HS) who finished fourth in the high jump with a height of 5-9.25 (1.76) and sophomore Shelese Ruffin (Banning, Calif./Beaumont HS) who finished sixth in the 400 meters in a time of 54.89.
A fourth sophomore Sherrina Lofton (Fairfield, Calif./Fairfield HS) picked up All-Region honors in both the 100 meters (11.62) and 200 meters (54.89) and was part of the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams that finished in the top eight to also earn All-Region accolades.
The other members of the 4x100 relay included freshman Shaleisha Mitchell (Palmdale, Calif./Palmdale HS), freshman Tara Prier (Houston, Texas/Alief Taylor HS) and Ruffin.
The women's 4x400 relay team included Prier, Ruffin, Gonder and Lofton.
For the men, junior Bradley Ike (Pomona, Calif./Diamond Ranch HS) and senior Thomas Ross (Converse, Texas/Northport HS/Barton Co. CC) both earned All-Region honors in the sprints.
Ike ran 10.57 to finish fourth in the 100 meters while Ross clocked a time of 13.80 to take fourth in the 110 hurdles.
Senior DaShalle Andrews (Phoenix, Ariz./Moon Valley HS) had the best finish of any of the Matador men in the regional after finishing as the runner-up in the triple jump. Andrews jumped a career-best 52-5.25 (15.98) to take second place while freshman Reindell Cole (Las Vegas, Nev./Desert Pines HS) earned All-Region honors with a sixth-place finish in the long jump.
Sohomore Derek Cooper (Las Vegas, Nev./Desert Pines HS) picked up All-Region accolades in both the discus (184-6, 56.23) and shot put (58-3.75, 17.77) as he placed seventh in the discus and eighth in the shot.
