NORTHRIDGE, Calif. -
Both Matador swimming teams will travel to San Luis Obispo this Friday to participate in the third annual Mustang Invitational hosted by Cal Poly. The men will square off against the host Mustangs (3-4), while the women will compete against both the Mustangs (2-8) and the Fresno State Bulldogs (2-8).
Competition will begin at 10:00 a.m. Friday morning, with all races taking place at Sinsheimer Park (900 Southwood Dr., San Luis Obispo) due to the current renovation of the Anderson Aquatic Center located on the campus of Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo.
With almost two weeks to prepare for the event since their last competition, the Nike Cup held in Long Beach, the Matadors look to continue improving their times in the water as they face a Mustang team looking to rebound from their performance against UC Santa Barbara on November 22nd.
Sophomore Hank Weinberger looks to continue his impressive performance in the Backstroke events, while teammates Chris Grafton, Chris Ardoin, and Emre Bulbul look to replicate their performances in Long Beach during the one-day event in the Freestyle and Freestyle Relay events.
Fresno State's women return to competition this season after a four-year hiatus, and are currently 0-4 in dual meets this season. Also looking to rebound from their 199-106 loss to Boise State on November 15th, the Bulldogs will face a Matador squad led by junior Olesya Senicheva in the Breaststroke and Simone Luker in the Backstroke events.
Complete results of the meet will be posted at goMatadors.com shortly after the completion of the event.
