SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Cal State Northridge softball team (10-14) fell twice on its first day at the San Diego Classic II on the campus of San Diego State. The Matadors dropped a 4-1 decision to Louisville and then lost 1-0 to Wisconsin.

A look at the box scores for the two games showed little offense for the Matadors. CSUN totaled six hits and one run in 14 innings of play. In fact, six different players accounted for the six hits.

In the circle, CSUN got some nice showings from their pitchers. Despite picking up a pair of losses, Hannah Fraijo went six innings on the day allowing nine hits, but only three earned runs. Carly Wade also had a nice effort, tossing five innings of four-hit relief work in the loss to Louisville. Finally, Mia Pagano made her 2011 debut, tossing two scoreless innings early in the loss to Wisconsin.

Against the Cardinals of the Big East Conference, Jennifer Mosier had a triple and scored the Matadors' only run of the contest. Jaci Carlsen had a double in the game to account for Northridge's only other hit.

Louisville jumped on Fraijo early, scoring two earned runs in the first inning. The Cardinals added two more runs on Wade in the top of the seventh.

Against the Badgers of the Big 10 Conference, Northridge finished with four hits. Mikayla Thielges had her first career triple and three other players had singles. Wisconsin scored the game's only run on a squeeze play in the top of the sixth.

Northridge returns to action Saturday with a single game in San Diego. The Matadors will face the Buckeyes of Ohio State at 11:30 a.m. on the campus of San Diego State.
