Roni Sparrey enters her third season as a member of the Matador coaching staff in 2009. At Northridge, Sparrey supervises the infield and oversees the defense in addition to administrative responsibilities.

In her first season with the Matadors, Sparrey guided the defense to a .967 fielding percentage, the third-best mark in the Big West Conference, and 13 fewer errors than Northridge's opponents.

Sparrey joined the Northridge softball staff in 2007 after spending two seasons as assistant coach at Cal Poly. The stint with the Mustangs followed a successful softball career with Cal Poly. During her four-year career with the Mustangs, Sparrey hit .298 with 203 hits in 682 at-bats. The 203 hits places her first all-time on the Cal Poly career hits list.

As a sophomore, Sparrey led the team with 17 runs batted in and nine stolen bases in earning All-Big West Conference second-team honors. She repeated as an all-conference player as a junior, receiving honorable mention accolades after recording a .293 average, six steals and 10 RBI. In her senior campaign, Sparrey led the club with a .373 average, three home runs and 26 runs batted in, earning her first-team All-Big West honors and first-team All-West Region accolades. Along with her .298 career average, Sparrey also posted seven home runs, 68 runs batted in, 29 stolen bases and 32 doubles.

In her two years as an assistant on the Cal Poly staff, Sparrey helped the Mustangs to a 35-16 record and a second-place finish in the Big West in 2005 and a 27-23 mark and a third-place finish in '06.

Sparrey, a native of Vallejo, Calif., graduated from Cal Poly in 2004 with a bachelor's degree in recreation administration.
