Juan Plascencia enters his eighth season as a member of the Cal State Northridge women's soccer coaching staff. He will assist in coaching the goalkeepers as well as helping out with administrative duties. In his seven seasons with the Matadors, Plascencia has aided the keepers to 39 shutouts and saw goalkeeper Cynthia Jacobo post five-straight shutouts over Big West opponents to earn the 2009 Big West Freshman of the Year honors and two-straight All-Big West Second Team awards (2009 & 2010).

Plascencia was a two-year letterwinner at Northridge (1998-99). He played in 14 matches, starting six during his two years. During his time in goal, he posted a 5-4 record with a 2.32 goals against average and two shutouts. Plascencia's best season came in 1999, when he posted a 1.86 GAA in nine matches.

Plascencia prepped at Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, Calif. The two-time team captain earned All-Mission League second-team honors in 1995 and '96, first team accolades in 1997 and was an All-Area selection and Mission League Goalkeeper MVP in 1998.

Prior to working at Cal State Northridge, Plascencia has coached for the West Valley Samba as well as for Viewpoint, Notre Dame, Harvard Westlake and Louisville High Schools. Plascencia is currently working toward attaining his degree at Cal State Northridge.
