Matadors Finish in a Tie For Eighth at Kent Youel Invitational
Final Results
KAPOLEI, O`ahu - Senior Eva Yoe fired a final-round even-par 72 to finish the Ken Youel Invitational in fifth place with a three-round +3, 219 and the Matador women's golf team finished in a tie for eighth place.
Northridge finished with rounds of 307-316-311 to finish tied with Washington State at +70, 934.
Yoe finished a Matador-best fifth after she posted rounds of 73-74-72 for a three-round +3, 219. She finished just two shots behind co-winners Tiffany Joh and Maria Jose Uribe of UCLA (+1, 217).
Senior Lucy Davies finished tied for 45th at +20, 236 after rounds of 79-76-81, Krystrina Gillenwater finished tied for 60th at +24, 240 after rounds of 78-85-77, Ashlee Nagamine finished toed for 65th at +25, 241 after rounds of 77-81-83 and Stephanie Aston finished in a tie for 94th at +39, 255 after rounds of 89-85-81.
In addition to Joh (72-73-72-217) and Uribe (72-70-75-217), USC teammates Belen Mozo (71-76-71-218) and Joanne Lee (72-75-71-218) shared third place.
Top-ranked UCLA (293-291-297-881) took home the title after playing a solid, consistent tournament. But third-ranked USC(294-301-290-885) closed in on the Bruins late, before falling four strokes short. California (307-293-296-896) stayed in the mix, and widened the gap from Oregon State (305-310-302-917) and San Jose State (307-306-305-918), who switched places again to finish fourth and fifth repectively.
