Matadors Finish 14th at Rain-Shortened Lady Aztec Fall Invitational
SAN DIEGO, Calif. - After having no rain in the San Diego area since April, the elements came into play at the 2004 Lady Aztec Invitational, canceling the third and final round Tuesday at the par-72, 6,262-yard (The) Auld Course in Chula Vista. The second round was able to be completed Tuesday morning, as three golfers played their final hole. Baylor came away with the team title, winning by 11 strokes with a 590 (+14), while reigning champion San Diego State dropped from sixth to ninth with a 614 (+38). Fresno State’s Laura Luethke, ranked 39th nationally, was the top individual with a two-round score of 140 (-4).

For the Matadors, Emma Wahlgren and Adrienne Cipparone were top individuals with matching scores of 159 (+15) to tie for 48th overall. Cipparone carded a CSUN low round of 73 on Monday, while Wahlgren shot a 74 on Tuesday.

Elsewhere, Jennifer Yoo tied for 66th with a 162 (+18), followed by Kristin Smith, who came in 79th (167) and Jameliz Torrez who came in 81st (174). Lucy Davies and Nicole Mayo both competed as individuals, with Davis coming in a tie for 60th (161) and Mayo coming in 80th (169).
