Northridge Tied for Seventh at Aztec Fall Classic
First Round Results
CHULA VISTA, Calif. - Eva Yoe and Krystina Gillenwater are both tied for seventh at two over-par 74 to lead Cal State Northridge into a tie for seventh at 306 after the opening round at the Aztec Fall Classic at Salt Creek G.C. on Monday.
Yoe, a senior transfer from Eastern Washington, and Gillenwater are just four shots off the pace set by Patty Chawalitmetha of UC Irvine who carded a two under-par 70 to lead the field. Two golfers are at even par 72 while three others are at one over-par 73. In addition to Yoe and Gillenwater, six others are tied at 74.
UC Irvine leads the team competition after carding a opening-round of +9, 297. Hawai'i is second at 301, followed by East Tennessee State at 302 and the host Aztecs are fourth at 304. Eastern Washington and Nevada are tied for fifth at 305 followed by the Matadors and Sacramento State at 306.
Also for the Matadors, senior Lucy Davies is tied for 39th at six over-par 78, junior Stephanie Aston is tied for 60th at eight over-par 80 and sophomore Monique Huijsman is tied for 91st at +14, 86.
Northridge also sent a group of individuals who were led by freshman Ashlee Nagamine who is tied for 73rd at +10, 82. Sophomore Julie Cho and junior Katrina Sutton are both tied for 95th with an opening-round score of +16, 88.
The Aztec Fall Classic wraps up Tuesday with the second and final round, which gets underway at 8 a.m. PDT.
