MOORPARK, Calif. - Cal State Northridge carded a first round 314 and is four shots behind team-leading Portland (310) after the opening round of the Matador Spring Invitational at Tierra Rejada G.C.

For the Matadors, senior Eva Yoe is tied for fifth at four-over-par 76 while fellow senior Lucy Davies is tied for ninth at five-over-par 77. Yoe matched her 38 on the front nine with a 38 on the back while Davies was one-under-par on the front nine but slipped to six-over on the back.

Stephanie Aston, competing for the Matador "B" squad, is also in contention at +4, 76 with back-to-back rounds of 38.

A quartet of golfers hold a one-stroke lead heading into Tuesday's final round. Jennifer Bermingham of UC Riverside, Utah Valley's Echo Thatcher, Portland's Kristin Howell and Cal Poly's Hannah Brabb all finished Monday at three-over-par 75 on the challenging Tierra Rejada course.

In the team chase, Portland (310) holds a two-shot lead over both Cal Poly (312) and UC Riverside (312) while Northridge is also in striking distance at 314. Cal State San Marcos (324) and Utah Valley (324) are both tied for fifth, British Columbia (326) is seventh, Cal Baptist (329) is eighth and Cal State Bakersfield (351) is currently ninth.

Also for the Matadors "A" team, freshman Ashlee Nagamine is tied for 12th at +7, 79, senior Katrina Sutton is tied for 24th at +10, 82 and Krystina Gillenwater is tied for 39th at +13, 85.

For the Northridge "B" squad, Julie Cho is tied for 24th at +10, 82, Monique Huijsman is tied for 39th at +13, 85, Sarah Windsor is tied for 44th at +15, 87, Maurissa Medina is tied for 50th at +16, 88 and Mallory Gonzalez is tied for 53rd at +17, 89.

Tuesday's final round is set to begin at 7:30 a.m. with the first wave of teams followed by the second wave at 9:30 a.m.
