Desirae Gonder Finishes Fourth in NCAA Women's High Jump

DES MOINES, Iowa - Sophmore Desirae Gonder earned the Cal State Northridge women's track & field team its first five points in the NCAA Championships with a fourth place finish in the high jump.

Gonder cleared a height of 6-0 (1.83) on her final attempt before missing on her three attempts at a lifetime-best 6-1.25 (1.86). Elizabeth Patterson of Arizona won the competition after clearing her first attempt at 6-1.25 (1.86) while Cal Poly's Sharon Day was second at the same height.

Gonder, who posted a lifetime-best of 6-0.50 at the 2008 Big West Championships, becomes Northridge's first All-American on the women's side since Carol Stevenson in 2004.

For the men on Friday, senior DaShalle Andrews fouled on his three attempts in the triple jump prelims and did not advance to the final.

Freshman Reindell Cole, who finished 10th in the long jump on Thursday, earned All-America honors in the event by finishing among the top eight American athletes in the event.
