Raz Named Big West Player Of The Week
Sophomore Yossi Raz has been named Big West Player of the Week after leading the Matadors to wins over Cal Poly and Cal State Fullerton.
The midfielder ended the regular season in style with an unbelievable week that saw Raz collect three goals and two assists while helping Northridge claim second place in the Big West.
Raz was unstoppable in the team's 6-1 win over Cal Poly on Wednesday, knocking in two goals while assisting on two others. The sophomore then peppered Cal State Fullerton with five shots before banging in his seventh goal of the season in the team's 3-1 win over the Titans on Saturday.
The 2001 Big West Freshman of the Year finished heads into postseason action leading the team in points (23), assists (11) and shots (53).
The award marks the fourth time a Matador has been named player of the week this season with both junior Charles Mitchell (10/7 and 11/4) and sophomore Jesse Servin (9/23) earning the award.
