Nick Delio Leads Cal Poly Intercollegiate After Two Rounds

ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. - Freshman Nick Delio fired rounds of 69-71 for a two round -4, 140 and has a two shot lead heading into the final round of the Cal Poly Intercollegiate at Cypress Ridge G.C. As a team, Northridge is in second place trailing host Cal Poly by five shots.

Delio's first-round -3, 69 matches the low round of the tournament and he followed that up with a -1, 71 in the afternoon. Bidding for his second tournament title of his freshman season, Delio carries a two-shot lead over Cal Poly's Brycen Wagner (-2, 142) and Utah Valley State's Nick Nelson (-2, 142).

Two 69s were carded Thursday. Delio notched four birdies and a bogey for his 69 in the morning round while Andrew Cortez of UC Riverside recorded his 69 in the afternoon with six birdies and three bogeys. Cortez was disqualified in the morning round.

Also within striking distance is junior Chris Satterlee who carded an opening-round +1, 73 but rebounded with a -2, 70 in the second round. Satterlee is at -1, 143 heading into Tuesday's final 18 holes.

Also for Northridge, junior Erik Jarvey is tied for 30th at +9, 153 after rounds of 79-74, senior Kyle Nicolson is tied for 36th at +10, 154 after rounds of 80-74, Clint Oleson is tied for 41st at +11, 155 after rounds of 76-79 and senior Aaron Hobbs rounded out the six-man team tied for 54th at +15, 159 after rounds of 79-80.

In the team chase, defending champion Cal Poly (294-287) has a five-stroke lead over the Matadors after carding a -5, 581 total on the 6,778-yard, par-72 layout. Northridge (297-289) has a 586 total while Cal State Stanislaus and British Columbia share third place with 594 totals heading into Friday¹s final round.

 

 

Friday¹s final round will begin at 8 a.m. The top three teams in the field will tee off at 9:15 a.m. from the first tees.
