Calvin Chitwood Named Big West Player of the Week

IRVINE, Calif. - Junior forward Calvin Chitwood earned Northridge's first conference honor of the season as he was named Big West Player of the Week after scoring a career-high 30 points and grabbing a game-high nine rebounds in the Matadors' 102-98 win over Eastern Washington on Sunday.

In Northridge's only game last week, Chitwood converted eight of 12 shots from the floor, including two of three from beyond the three-point arc, and was a perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line. He also grabbed a season-high nine rebounds (six on the offensive end) and added four steals and a pair of assists as the Matadors remained unbeaten at home this season (3-0).

Chitwood is the first Northridge player to earn Big West Conference Player of the Week honors since Mike Efevberha took the honor on Nov. 28, 2005.
