Tip-Off Basketball Rally Set For Saturday at The Matadome
There is an old cliche "If it's FREE, it's for ME."
That's why Cal State Northridge men's and women's basketball fans are INVITED to the second annual Tip-Off Rally on Saturday, October 25, 2008, at The Matadome.
As part of the 50th anniversary celebrations taking place across the CSUN campus, Matador basketball fans are invited to attend a sneak preview of the 2008-09 men's and women's basketball teams.
Admission is FREE.
The evening's activities start at 6:00 p.m. and will conclude around 9:00 p.m.
Fans will have an opportunity to meet the coaching staffs and players of both programs, get autographs of your favorite players, purchase season tickets and Matador basketball gear, along with plenty of food and drinks.
The Matador men's team is also planning on holding a scrimmage.
Matador men's basketball head coach Bobby Braswell (the 2007-08 Big West Coach of the Year) and Staci Schulz (the women's head basketball coach) will provide plenty of insights and answer questions as both teams prepare for an exciting 2008-09 hoops season.
Four national pre-season publications have picked the Matadors basketball team to win the Big West title this year. The Matadors will be led by Tremaine Townsend, a 6-foot-9 senior forward, who led the Big West in rebounding (9.8 rpg) and blocked shots (1.3 bpg) last year; guard Deon Tresvant, a Big West selection and the team's leading scorer (13.9 ppg) from a year ago; and Josh Jenkins, the senior point-guard who led the Big West in assists (191) last year.
The Matador women return several veteran players including senior guard Whitney Ligon, who returns as the team's top scorer (12.1 ppg).
