HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Dominic D'Anna was 3-for-3 in his Northridge (9-6) debut, spearheading the Northridge offense Saturday in a 9-2 victory Saturday over Liberty (8-7). Davin Tate was the victor and Peter Mendez earned the save for the Matadors.

D'Anna, sidelined through the early going after recovering from an offseaosn illness, made the most of his first opportunity in college baseball, banging out three hits and also logging a walk in his debut. D'Anna also registered his first career RBI and run scored.

Matt Carvutto, also making his first career start, did well for himself, as well. The rightfielder went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI and a pair fo runs scored. Teamed with TS Reed, who was 3-for-5 with three RBI, Northridge had three players with multiple hits.

Northridge cut a two-run Liberty lead in half in the fifth, scoring one. In the sixth, though, the Matadors busted the game open, scoring six and giving Northridge a five-run advantage. two more in the eighth made it 9-2 Northridge, and that was the final tally.

Davin Tate pitched very well for the Matadors, tallying his second win in four starts for the year. The sophomore struck out five and surrendered just the two runs, scattering seven hits. Peter Mendez was effective in relief, going three innings and surrendering two hits with no free passes.
