Northridge, Calif. - They are bright and enthusiastic, and they spread "school spirit" throughout the Cal State Northridge campus.

They are the Matador Cheerleading Team who attend numerous CSUN athletic events and activities on campus during the year to promote "all the great activities and spirit" at Cal State Northridge.

The Matador Cheerleaders also extend their spirit to the community and on July 22-23, the Northridge Cheerleading Team began their year by teaching the Santa Clarita Valley Warriors Cheerleaders the art of crowd leading.

The 52 member SCV Warriors group ranged in age from five years to 13 years. The 14-member coed Northridge Cheerleading Team taught the young group dance, cheers and motions, stunts and pyramids, jumps and many other important facets of cheerleading.

The two-day cheerleading clinic adjourned with overwhelming acclaim from both cheerleading organizations.

The Northridge Cheerleading Team participates in numerous clinics not just for their fund raising purposes but also to connect with the community to each young kids the skills they have acquired at CSUN's ever-growing NCAA Division I Cheerleading program. The team sees these clinics as planting seeds of excellence in CSUN's future because "when that generation of youth is ready to attend college `Northridge' will be a name they already know and love."

If your organization is interested in coordinating a young cheerleading clinic with the Matador Cheerleaders, please contact the head coach at
