Five Athletic Department Staffers Honored for Dedicated Service to Cal State Northridge

Northridge, Calif. - Ashlie Kite, Associate Athletic Director (Internal Operations) and four other members of the Cal State Northridge Athletic Department (Lauree Floback, Isidore Gold, Karen Mariglia, Matt Monroe) were among 300 people honored on Wednesday morning for their continuous service to Cal State Northridge at the 43rd Annual Staff Service Awards and Recognition of Excellence Event at the CSUN Student Union.

Kite, who is in her fourth year at Cal State Northridge, was given the highly prestigious Merit Award for her outstanding work in contributing the fabric of the University. Kite's responsibilities include supervision and oversight of the day-to-day internal operations of the Athletics Department

"Ashlie has done an excellent job, and her Merit Award is well deserved," said Matador Athletics Director Rick Mazzuto. "Congratulations Ashlie."

Floback, Gold, Mariglia and Monroe have a combined 40 years of service at Cal State Northridge and were honored by the University for their dedicated work. Floback has worked at Cal State Northridge for 15 years, while Gold and Monroe have each worked at CSUN for 10 years, and Mariglia for five years.

"Congratulations to Lauree, Isidore, Karen and Matt for their outstanding service and dedication to Cal State Northridge and the athletic department," said Matador Athletics Director Rick Mazzuto.

Lauree Floback - Athletic Director Executive Assistant
Lauree Floback is in her 15th year at Cal State Northridge where she serves as the Athletic Director Executive Assistant/Office Manager for the Matadors' Intercollegiate Athletic Department ... Lauree is responsible for the hiring process of the 65-plus member personnel that makes up the Northridge Intercollegiate Athletic Department ... Floback, who is in her 15th year on the Northridge campus, spent a year and a half in the Instructional Media Center, now presently known as Information Technology Resources, prior to her joining the Matador Athletics program ... Before the Instructional Media Center, Floback spent a combined 16 years as the Office Manager and Professional Legal Secretary to the senior partners of two six-attorney law firms in the San Fernando Valley ... Floback and her husband, Mike, enjoys the outdoors and can be found golfing in their spare time ... She and Mike are also responsible for making sure hundreds of needy children have presents to open at Christmas time ... They have been operating the "Toys for Needy Children Invitational Golf Tournament" along with the L.A. City Fire Department for more than 25 years ... Born in Minnesota, but raised primarily in the San Fernando Valley, Floback currently resides nestled in the foothills of Sylmar ... Although she and Mike lost their home in the Sylmar fires last November, they are anxiously awaiting their new home to be built ... She is a graduate of Cleveland High School in Reseda, Calif.

Isidore (Izzy) Gold - Equipment Manager
Has been the head equipment manager for Cal State Northridge Athletics since 2001 ... Previous to his current appointment, served as the assistant equipment manager for two years (1999-01) ... Responsible for inventory of 18 sports, including team uniforms and practice gear ... Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York ... Attended Cal State Northridge where he was a Kinesiology major.

Ashlie Kite - Associate Director of Athletics, Internal Operations
Ashlie Kite is in her fourth year as an Associate Director of Athletics at Cal State Northridge ... She was named to that post on Dec. 17, 2004 and began her tenure on Jan. 24, 2005 ... Her responsibilities include supervision and oversight of the day-to-day internal operations of the Athletics Department ... Specifically, Kite supervises the areas of Compliance, including the coordination of the eligibility and financial aid processes, the Athletics Business Office, Sports Medicine, Strength and Conditioning, Event Management, and the Athletics Equipment Room ... In addition, she directly supervises the sports of men's soccer, women's soccer, women's tennis and men's volleyball ... Kite served as the point person for the NCAA Academic Performance Program and NCAA Athletics Certification ... She is the CSUN representative on the Big West Legislative Review Committee, and served as a peer reviewer for the NCAA Division I Athletics Certification Program ... Kite came to Cal State Northridge from James Madison University, where she spent 15 years and served as the Director of Compliance from 1999-2004 ... In that role, she was responsible for the oversight and monitoring of the Athletics Department's compliance program for more than 750 student-athletes competing in 28 varsity sports ... Kite also coordinated the eligibility and financial aid processes for the university's student-athletes and managed the rules education program ... In addition to her administrative duties in compliance, she was the tournament director for a variety of NCAA and conference championship events hosted by JMU ... During her tenure, she also served as an assistant in the Compliance Office before being promoted to Compliance Coordinator in 1996 ... Kite arrived at JMU in 1990, where she worked for a year in the athletic equipment operation and served as an administrative graduate assistant for two years ... Kite is a native of Elkton, Va. and is a graduate of Spotswood High School ... She earned her Bachelor¹s degree in Health, Physical Education and Coaching from Eastern Mennonite University and her Master¹s degree in Kinesiology with an athletic administration concentration from James Madison in 1993.

Karen Mariglia - Administrative Support Coordinator
Karen's responsibilities include support staff for the baseball, softball and track & field programs ... Karen is also responsible for the hiring of the student-assistant staff ...
