Matador Track & Field Complex

The Northridge Track & Field Complex is one of the finest training and competition venues in the state of California.

The track & field facility has most recently hosted the 2010 Big West Conference Outdoor Championships and in 2008 hosted both the Big West Championships as well as the NCAA Western Regional Championships. The facility, which has hosted a conference championship seven times in its history, also hosted the 2004 NCAA Western Regional.

The 400 meter track has nine lanes and is considered very fast. The surface was applied in 1997 by Southwest Industries and resurfaced in the summer of 2003. A state-of-the-art scoreboard was installed in 2003 featuring instant timing of events taking place on the track.

The track is oriented in a North/South alignment to take advantage of either of the most common prevailing wind conditions.

The steeplechase barriers are fully adjustable to accommodate female participants. The north end of the complex has an expansive areas for the high jump, with enough room to run two pits simultaneously.

There are four horizontal jump pits situated in each corner of the infield, allowing either long jump or triple jump to be contested with favorable winds.

There are two shot put rings, and a discus ring on each end of the infield. The javelin runway is at the North end of the facility, adjacent to the high jump area.

The pole vault pit was recently relocated to the east side of the complex.

The hammer event is conducted at North Campus Stadium.

The track is located in a bowl shaped depression with festival seating for more than 5,000 fans.
